Pre Booking Checklist

This page helps riders assess whether a clinic or trail ride is an appropriate fit before booking.

The pre‑booking checklist exists to encourage realistic self‑assessment before committing to a clinic or trail ride.
It is not a test and not a requirement to “qualify”, but a tool to clarify expectations, responsibilities, and readiness.

Trail riding places responsibility on both rider and horse.
The checklist helps make that responsibility explicit.

Please read this before sending a booking request.
It helps ensure safety, fairness, and a good experience — especially for the horses.

Rider

I can honestly answer YES to the following:

☐ I can saddle a horse independently
☐ I can ride safely at walk, trot and canter
☐ I can mount from the ground, a rock or a tree if needed
☐ I am comfortable dismounting and leading my horse
☐ I understand that trail riding requires active decision‑making

☐ all the above

My horse

☐ My horse is healthy and sound
☐ My horse is suitable for trail riding
☐ My horse can be led calmly
☐ My horse is not aggressive toward people or other horses
☐ I accept that plans may change if my horse needs it
☐ all the above

Equipment & mindset

☐ I understand that equipment does not replace skill
☐ I am open to learning and adjusting habits
☐ I accept that simplicity and horse welfare come first
☐ I am comfortable riding without constant rein contact

all the above

Expectations

☐ I understand this is not a guided tourist ride
☐ I am willing to adapt pace, route or plans if conditions change
☐ I accept that safety comes before ambition
☐ I understand that I am riding at my own risk

all the above

Final check

☐ I have read the clinic or ride descriptions
☐ I understand the prerequisites
☐ I am booking because I want to ride responsibly and learn
all the above

If you can check all boxes, you are likely a good fit.
