Terms and Conditions
1. Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions apply to all clinics, courses, trail rides, events, and other activities offered by extremtrail.ch. Bookings for trail rides in the USA or Canada with extremtrail.ch or Peter van der Gugten are governed by Swiss law and regulations.
Registrations are only valid once:
-
the online registration has been completed, and
-
payment has been received no later than 10 days before clinic or departure.
If an event is fully booked, participants will be placed on a waiting list.
Placement on a waiting list does not give any right to participation.
2. Withdrawal & Cancellation
a) Trail rides of 6 days or more
-
Up to 60 days before departure: 30 USD processing fee
-
60–30 days before departure: 50% of total costs
-
30 days to day of departure: 100% of total costs
Unless an equivalent replacement (rider and horse) can be provided.
b) All other services (clinics, shorter rides, events)
-
Up to 1 day before start: CHF 30 processing fee
-
1 day before start: 100%
Unless an equivalent replacement (rider and horse) can be provided.
3. Payments
-
Payments are to be made in USD via Venmo, Zelle and Paypal.
The riding price includes:
-
riding guide
it does not include overnight lodging, or renting equipment
Rental horses need to be paid separately.
Food and drinks are not included and must be paid separately.
4. Travel Cancellation Insurance (for long rides)
To avoid potential costs, we strongly recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance.
If a participant:
-
leaves a ride early, or
-
cancels at short notice due to weather or other circumstances
there is no entitlement to a refund of the remaining amount.
We reserve the right to change the program if necessary.
5. Exclusion from Participation
The instructions of the guide must be followed at all times.
A participant may be excluded if:
-
instructions are repeatedly ignored or cannot be followed
-
basic rules of riding in a group are disregarded
-
the rider or horse endangers others
-
the rider or horse does not meet physical or mental requirements
In such cases, no full or partial refund of paid costs is possible.
6. Helmet Requirement
Riders under 18 years of age are required to wear a helmet.
7. Insurance & Liability
Participants are responsible for ensuring adequate accident insurance coverage.
Please verify that riding accidents and horse‑related incidents are included.
We assume no liability for:
-
bodily or mental harm or death
-
personal equipment of participants
8. Disclaimer
All information on this website is provided for informational purposes only.
While content is checked regularly, we accept no liability for consequences arising from its use.
This website contains links to third‑party websites.
We are not responsible for their content, and use is at the visitor’s own risk.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of online services and are not liable for damages such as interrupted connections or viruses.
9. Data Protection
Personal data is treated confidentially and not passed on to third parties.
Exceptions apply only where data is shared with:

employees
-
business partners
solely for the purpose of providing services.
Data is collected, processed, and used in accordance with Swiss data protection law.
Participants are likewise obliged to treat information about other participants confidentially.
10. Photos
Photos taken during training sessions or trail rides may be used on:
-
our website
-
social media (e.g. Facebook)
If a participant does not wish to appear in photos, they may request prior to ride or clinic.
No further claims can be asserted.
11. Shop
Shop items may be returned or exchanged.
Return postage is at the customer’s expense.
Refunds are possible, except for:
-
saddle bags
-
horn bags
-
cantle bags
